About me
Collaborating with the community brings me a sense of purpose and fills my heart with joy.
Our past actions shape who we are today. This is my story…
Growing up in Brisbane, I was surrounded by the hustle and bustle of city life. But even amidst the skyscrapers and bustling streets, I always felt a pull towards something more, something deeper. It wasn't until I started visiting my extended family in Bundaberg that I truly discovered what that something was.
My grandparents and parents were all born and raised in Bundaberg, so it was only natural that we would spend a lot of time there. And I'll never forget the feeling of excitement and anticipation that would wash over me as we made our way towards that small town.
There was something about the rural lifestyle that just felt right to me. People looked out for each other in a way that I'd never experienced in the city. Family connections were strong, and the sense of community was palpable. It was as if the community was one big family, and everyone was invested in everyone else's well-being.
Over time, I came to realise that this sense of community was something that I valued deeply. I began to understand that life wasn't just about looking out for myself, but also about contributing to something bigger than myself. It was this realisation that ultimately led me down the path of community service and advocacy.
Looking back, I can see how those early experiences in Bundaberg shaped who I am today. They instilled in me a deep sense of community and a commitment to making a positive difference. For that, I will be forever grateful.
“In my own life, I have become a mother, business owner, community leader, speaker, collaborator, volunteer, and advocate. These roles have all been shaped by the values instilled in me from my upbringing in both Brisbane and Bundaberg.”
In 1997, I married my childhood sweetheart Nathan. In 2005, I became a mum to William and two years later to Harrison. My family is my foundation and inspiration. They have enabled me to foster the values I uphold and the
spirit in which I embrace life.
After working for more than 20 years in Brisbane in the dental profession, my life in 2013 took on a very different career path. My husband and I along with our family took the opportunity to own, open, and operate McDonald's Boyne Island in the Gladstone Region.
In the decade my family and I have called Tannum Sands home, we have been embraced and enveloped by the communities of Gladstone and its smaller and unique townships.
We love that our lives have been perfectly nestled within National Parks in a uniquely laid-back coastal feel that simultaneously provides unencumbered access to glorious beaches, the hinterland and bushland.
This love for the Gladstone region and for its people has inspired me to become passionately involved with advocating and volunteering with a diverse range of community organisations, events, clubs and major industry based companies.
Through these connections, experiences and being active within the Gladstone region, I have learnt that our region is thriving!
I listened to the resounding voice of our community calling for a better Gladstone! That's why I have stepped into the next chapter of my journey as your Local Government Councillor representative.
